Sad news that the Mothership, the only sit-down restaurant in Park View proper, has closed. Owner and chef Stephan Boillon indicated that the density had not reached his expectation, and there wasn't enough business to turn a profit. A fitting closing tribute is the documentary film "The Wait", designed by local mural artist Nekisha Durrett, and painted on the side of the building. Very visible coming north on Georgia Avenue, we hope the mural has a long life and remains part of the fabric of Parkview.
"The Wait" is a beautiful depiction of the change and revitalization of Park View. While another word for this change is gentrification, it is important that we openly discuss our changing neighborhoods.
