You might have seen the banners up and down Georgia Avenue and downtown around 7th Street and 9th Street which say "Digital DC: The Inovation Capital." (www.dcinnovates-us.org)You likely had little to no idea what this meant for you or your neighborhood. Well, DC Innovates put together a million dollars to be awarded to 8 start-up companies, with awards ranging between $25,000 and $200,000 in order to encourage technology entrepreneurs to base their business alone the corridor.
One awardee, Riide, was awarded the largest grant of $172,500 to build light and fast electric bicycles.
According to their website, www.riide.com, the bikes will go 20 mph, go up to 25 miles on one charge, and weigh less than 35 pounds! To charge the bike, you simply plug it into any socket on the wall.
The G7 team of Stages Commercial is thrilled to assist Riide in their search for a new home along the tech corridor. Once they have their showroom up and running, you will be able to test the bikes out, and bring one home!
